Organizers were eight students from New Rochelle High School, former group members. The history of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church dates to 1887, when several African-American families living in or near Bedford Center began meeting in their homes for praise and worship service. Today, an organization called Julie's Cause provides referrals and assistance with medical and living expenses, personal care, and even child care for women undergoing treatment for cervical cancer. Ramapo Fire Department Battles Early Morning Structure Blaze RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A porch fire drew police and fire personnel to a home early Wednesday on Haverstraw Road.The structure fire at 3 a.m. was contained to a covered porch area of the home, according to the Ramapo Police Department on Facebook. All of the occupants woke up and exited the home uninjured, police said. The Tallman and Suffern fire departments extinguished the blaze, which was apparently caused by an electrical problem centering on a light fixture over the front door, according to police. Route 202 was closed for about 90 minutes during the fire, police said.

Danbury Police Officers are participating in No-Shave November by not shaving to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness. To date, the city's officers have raised $1,575 of their $2,500 goal. No-Shave November is a web-based, non-profit organization devoted to growing cancer awareness and raising funds to support cancer prevention, research, and education.
