Danbury To Begin Picking Up Christmas Trees For Recycling DANBURY, Conn. -- City residents with live Christmas trees can place them curbside for pickup on Monday, Jan. 2. Everything must be removed from the tree. No artificial trees will be picked up. The trees will be picked up by the City's Highway Department, weather permitting, through Jan. 31. There is no set schedule for this free program. Police: Shelton School Bus Driver Admits Taking Methadone, Cold Medicine SHELTON, Conn. — A school bus driver in Shelton who fell asleep at the wheel multiple times while transporting 30 Shelton Intermediate School students told police he had taken methadone and possibly Nyquil before working that day, according to the Connecticut Post.     Paul Pixley, 55, of Derby, also told police that he had a drug problem in the past, but does not now, said the Connecticut Post. Connecticut's Minimum Wage Increases Jan. 1 FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut's minimum wage will be increasing from $9.60 per hour to $10.10 on Jan. 1, as the result of a law signed in 2014 that scheduled increases for workers in three stages. The coming change is the final step in a series of three scheduled increases under the law that first increased the minimum wage from $8.70 to $9.15 on Jan. 1, 2015; from $9.15 to $9.60 on Jan. 1, 2016; and finally to $10.10 effective Jan. 1, 2017.
