Doughnut Shop Customers Get Scared When Stamford Man Pulls Out Pellet Gun STAMFORD, Conn. -- It was almost midnight New Year's Eve Saturday when police responded to a city doughnut shop call for help about someone having what looked to be a"semiautomatic weapon," according to the Stamford Advocate.The person with the gun was a 21-year-old city man later identified as Andres Sevilla, according to the Stamford Advocate. He is alleged to have taken the gun from his waistband then laying it on a table at the 450 Main St. business, police told the Stamford Advocate. New Canaan Garage Fire Apparently Started By Fireplace Ashes In Garbage Can NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A fire in the garage of a Cheese Spring Road home in New Canaan was started by fireplace ashes put into garbage can, according to the New Canaan Advertiser. Town fire personnel responded to the fire Friday afternoon. Fire departments from Stamford Wilton, Norwalk, Vista, and Pound Ridge Fire helped settle the fire down in 20 minutes. The homeowners were home at the time of the fire and quickly exited the home with their two children and dog. All were safe. Fire Marshal: Smoking Caused Blaze At Norwalk Nursing Home NORWALK, Conn. -- A bedroom smoker caused the fire at an assisted living facility in Norwalk Sunday evening, the Norwalk Fire Marshal told News 12 Connecticut. About two-dozen people were forced out into the cold after a fire broke out there late Sunday evening, according to Norwalk Deputy Fire Chief Todd Smith. Ex-Fairfield Teacher Brightens Lives Of Kids With Cancer With Books FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A mother of two from Easton and former Fairfield teacher is using books to brighten the lives of kids with cancer.
