Sixth-Graders Blend New-School Programming With Old-School Dioramas
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- An old-school craft project became a high-tech science lesson for middle schoolers at Scarsdale Middle School recently. Students worked with the Arduinos electronics program, allowing them to become engineers in the classroom. Among projects, seventh-graders in Elizabeth Gallo's technology education class created dioramas on an Arduino board to convey stories about science, like how elephants adapt to their surroundings and the sun rotates in space. WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A century-old real estate trade organization based in the city has its first black president. The Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors welcomed Dorothy Botsoe, owner of Dorothy Jensen Realty, Inc. in White Plains. Botsoe is the first black president to be appointed to this position since the Association’s inception in 1916 as the Westchester County Realty Board, according to an announcement. BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Swimmers victoriously returned to Brookfield as second-place winners overall from a meet in Wilton. It was the Regional YMCA State Championships where the Brookfield Regional YMCA's Mako Swim Team took second place overall in 13 and over. The girls team earned 487 points, coming in third behind the Wilton Wahoos in first place, and the New Canaan YMCA Caimans came in second.
