To the Editor: I have never publicly endorsed any political candidate. I am not a republican. I am not a democrat. I do vote at the Pound Ridge Town House at every election. I vote for the candidate that will serve our community with common sense and integrity. For Pound Ridge Town Council, I will be voting for Peter Marchetti. Pete is refreshingly not a politician. He is a local family man and businessman exuding both common sense and integrity. To preserve th…
Clarkstown Purchases Property, Stopping Proposed Church Construction Clarkstown Purchases Property, Stopping Proposed Church Construction
Clarkstown Purchases Property, Stopping Proposed Church Construction NEW CITY, NY -  Clarkstown is getting some more open space. Supervisor George Hoehmann announced Thursday that the town will purchase 4.3 acres of property owned by St. Peter’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in an effort to prevent the negative impact on area residents, protect the town's wetlands, and preserve open space. The purchase of the property prevents the development of a 10,925 square foot church and a parking lot for 55 spaces, while additionally protecting 2.357 acres of wetlands.  “Today’s announcement is a true victory for preservation and conservation,” said Tina Traster, a …

Not all true Lefist Activist Joel Tyner! I did copy you on a email about Hyde Park has not done a full property revaluation since early 1990's and they may be pushing their tax levy for school and county taxes onto other adjacent towns. This was in 2013 and 2014 and this issue has NOT been corrected by you Joel Tyner as of today 2017. We are still paying unfair higher Hyde Park School Taxes because Hyde Park refused to do a town wide revaluation recommende…

To the Editor: I’m writing to recommend Diane Briggs for the town board of Pound Ridge. I first met Diane on the path to Scott’s Corners, walking her dog Bella. We became fast friends and over the past 7 years I’ve come to admire her compassion, empathy, sense of humor, intelligence, and dedication to her family as well as animals in need. (I also shouldn’t leave out her baking skills which my entire family appreciates). When she told me she was running for tow…

As a candidate for County Legislator, I have spent the last three months going door-to-door speaking to voters. And one issue that has come up time and time again is the proposed redevelopment of the Hudson Institute property in Teatown. On this issue, something troubling has come to my attention and I imagine the voters would find it troubling too. Catherine Borgia has failed to disclose to her voters in Ossining and Croton her significant financial interest in t…

It really is now or never for Pound Ridge and it really does begin locally I hadn’t personally subscribed to the philosophy that all politics begins locally until this last year. Here’s why my view has changed. While many of us were mourning on the day after the Presidential election (Pound Ridge voted against Trump 2 to 1), the leadership of the Pound Ridge Republican Committee wanted help in requesting Inauguration tickets from our Dem congressman. We are th…

Dear Editor, Rob Astorino, Westchester’s County Executive, has been involved with pay to play schemes, aligned himself with Trump on countless legally and morally questionable policies, and benefited from the dark money of a Trump supporter with ties to Brietbart. So why is he even competitive in the County Executive Race? Westchester has more registered Democrats than Republicans. Our County Legislature has more Democratic Legislators than Republicans. But twic…

We have lived and raised our family in Pound Ridge for nearly 40 years. We’ve seen many changes here. Its more environmentally friendly now, and it’s filled with more young families who utilize the town’s resources more than when me migrated from N.Y.C. Yet the town remains charmingly quaint. Pound Ridge protects its bucolic nature, its privacy. It values its unpretentious citizens, and encourages the kindness and helpfulness of the people who live and work here…
