Jersey City Substitute Teacher Sexually Assaulted Two Students: Prosecutors Fayez Yassa, a 64-year-old Jersey City resident, was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 12 and charged with sexually assaulting two students while serving as a substitute teacher at President Barack Obama Elementary School, PS #34. Yassa assaulted the two students back in May, prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Yassa was arrested at his residence and transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, Suarez said. Two Teens Shot In Newark: Police Two teenagers were shot in Newark on Thursday, Oct. 12, authorities said. At 8:40 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of Goldsmith Avenue and found a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The victims were transported to University Hospital and are in stable condition, Fragé said. The incident remains under investigation, Fragé said.

Roselle Man Faces Additional Charges In Murder Of Sister-In-Law, Niece: Prosecutors A 44-year-old Roselle man has now been indicted by a grand jury on 11 counts after he was arrested for killing his sister-in-law and niece back in April, prosecutors. Wanted NJ Sex Offender Captured At CT Motel: Police A 41-year-old New Jersey man wanted for failing to register as a sex offender was captured at a motel in Connecticut on Thursday, Oct. 5, authorities said. Juan Marales, of Raritan in Somerset County, was apprehended by police after being named the Somerset County's Prosecutor's Office Fugitive of the Month for October. Powerball: Two Union County Lotto Players Win $50K While they didn't win the $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot, two lotto players in Union County had themselves a lucrative night in the drawing held on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The two players matched four of the white balls and the Power Ball, winning $50,000. The tickets were sold at 7-Eleven in North Plainfield and a BP gas station in Springfield. Rahway Man Sexually Assaulted Woman In Park: Police Keon Hagans, a 44-year-old Rahway man was arrested and charged with sexual assault on Wednesday, Oct.4 , Union County police announced. On Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 2:50 p.m., Union County police responded to the Squires Island section of Rahway Park on River Park and found a woman who said she had been touched inappropriately by Hagans while walking through the park, officers said. Hagans was arrested at his residence and was placed in the Union County Jail, where he remains pending a court proceeding, police said.

Teen Bicyclist Hit By Deer Struck By Car In NJ Oh deer! A 13-year-old bicyclist was struck by a deer that was struck by a car in a chaotic scene in Hackettstown on Tuesday, Oct. 10. At 7:03 p.m., police responded to the 600 block of Willow Grove Street to a report of a teen bicyclist struck by a deer, officers said.
