US Rep. Esty Helps Afghanistan Vet Of Danbury Reclaim Bonus
DANBURY, Conn. -- A Danbury veteran whose National Guard bonus had been rescinded got a refund in November after reaching out for help from U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty. Esty came to the aid of David Vieira in securing the refund from the California National Guard after the wrongful clawback of his bonus. Vieira is among 10,000 veterans who share this predicament, according to a release from Esty's office. Ossining Moving Forward With Downtown Roundabout
OSSINING, N.Y. -- A modern roundabout may soon manage traffic flow at a busy downtown Ossining intersection, the Village Board decided in November. Though not a formal resolution, the Board voted 3-2 in favor of instructing the Village Engineer to move forward with a roundabout design over an updated conventional signal for the intersection upgrade. Pocantico Hill Science Students Taste Energy-Giving Fermented Foods
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. --- Science students in eighth grade at Pocantico Hills School in Tarrytown got a lesson in fermented foods. The students put their taste buds to work and tried some examples in the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classroom with science teacher Vince Cook, FACS teacher Ilana Brennan and CIA-trained lunch chef Kassie Arcate. TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- When the members of Tarrytown Rotary Club learned recently of a bare snack pantry at the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley in Valhalla, volunteers sprang into action.
