Hospital Tree Raffle Raises Spirits, $8K For Shelton's Spooner House
SHELTON, Conn. -- Families in need of shelter, food, and services find respite at Spooner House where support recently came from Griffin Hospital in a $8,000 donation.
The money came from the 6th annual "Wonderland of Trees" fundraiser and will be used for local families this winter.
The effort called upon hospital departments to decorate three-foot, artificial evergreens, that were then given away in a raffle. Over the six years, the tree fundraiser raised $37,900.

Homes For The Brave Brings Hope To Vets, Homeless In Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Norwalk resident credits the help he received from a Bridgeport organization that helps the homeless, primarily veterans, for him landing back on his feet.
Perry is a former National Guard and Marine Corp veteran who lives in Norwalk. He received help from Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport, a program of Applied Behavioral Rehabilitation Institute, Inc.
The Norwalk veteran had been trained as a military police officer and sniper, and for many years, was employed in various jobs, including as a security guard since his discharge in the 1980s.

Wrong-Way Stratford Driver Causes Crash, Shuts Down I-95
STRATFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut State Police are investigating an early morning crash that sent two drivers to the hospital, including a Stratford man who apparently was going the wrong way on I-95 northbound near Exit 40 in Milford.
The 3:57 a.m. pileup of three vehicles, including a truck from New Jersey, shut down the interstate for nearly and hour and a half.
At the time of the crash, the truck, a Freightlin TT owned by a company in Jersey City, was traveling northbound in the center of three lanes, according to police.

Westport Forms New Commission On People With Disabiilties
WESTPORT, Conn. -- Members of a newly established Commission on People with Disabilities have been appointed by First Selectman Jim Marpe.
James Ross, the former chair of the Citizen’s Transit Committee, will Chair the Commission, according to the announcement.
In addition, six other Westport residents, including persons with disabilities, advocates, caregivers, and professionals, will serve on the Commission: Marina Derman, Diane Johnson, Stacie Curran, LuAnn Giunta, Tom Holleman and Evan Levinson
Staff support for the Commission will be provided by the Town's Human Services Department.
