Valentine's Day Crash Leaves One Dead In Essex County (Updated) UPDATE: The victim has been ID'ed as 22-year-old Wiston Perlaza. One person was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Nutley on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 14, police said. The hit-and-run motor vehicle crash occurred at 7 p.m. at Milton Avenue at the Garden State Parkway overpass, Nutley police said.  Nutley police and the Essex County Prosecutors Office are working to identify the perpetrator, officers said. The victim has not been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at  Nutley police at 973-284-4940.

Monmouth County Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors A 29-year-old Howell man was fatally shot in Newark on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 13, authorities said. ATV Driver Plowing Snow Killed In Plunge Down Embankment: Butler Police A 69-year-old woman was killed when the ATV she was using to plow snow went down an embankment on Tuesday, Feb. 13, Butler police said. Police in Butler responded to a residence on Washington Street on a report of an unresponsive woman under an ATV.  Upon arrival, police discovered the woman had been plowing the snow in her driveway when her ATV went down an embankment in the back of the property. Her family had attempted resuscitation and despite resuscitation attempts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation, police said.

Pickleball Pandemonium: Largest Facility In NJ Opening In Passaic County The fast growing sport that has gripped the country is coming to Passaic County next year. Sportime Pickleball announced it has signed a lease to open Sportime Pickleball Wayne at Willowbrook Plaza in the spring of 2025. Sportime said this will be the largest facility in the state. The 50,000 square foot space will include 20 indoor courts, a stadium court, a concession stand and spaces for events, including national tournaments.  Sportime said it is looking to open more locations in the Garden State.

JCPenney Moving To Willowbrook Mall JCPenney is on the move in Passaic County. The department store chain is relocating from the Wayne Town Center to Willowbrook Mall next month in the township, Ryan Hidalgo, the senior general manager of the mall said.  JCPenney will be taking the spot formally occupied by Lord and Taylor, Hidalgo said. JCPenney has 10 locations in the Garden State, including in Woodbridge and Jersey City.
