78 Years For Plainfield Pair Convicted In Shooting That Left 1 Paralyzed, 1 Dead: Prosecutor Two Plainfield men were sentenced to 78 years in state prison on Friday, Jan. 12 after being convicted of first degree murder for killing a woman and paralyzing another in a 2021 double shooting, authorities said. Jaahad Ingram, 23 and Zaire Wallace, 30, were sentenced in Union County Superior Court and must serve 85 percent of their sentence before being eligible for parole, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel and Plainfield Police Director James Abney said. Clifton Councilwoman Lauren Murphy Dies At 69: 'Champion For The Underdog' Lauren Murphy, a Clifton councilwoman, died on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the age of 69, according to her obituary.  Murphy served as executive director of the Passaic County One Stop Career Center in Paterson and previously spent 34 years as an administrator at the Passaic County Board of Social Services, her obituary reads.  She was elected to the Clifton City Council 2014 and served as president of the Clifton Democratic Club, according to her obituary. Subcontractor Stole Garage Doors After Dispute With Contractor: Byram Township PD In a dispute between a contractor and a subcontractor in Sussex County, the garage door was the real victim. A 46-year-old Newton subcontractor was arrested after he uninstalled garage doors following an argument with a contractor on Wednesday, Jan. 10 in Byram Township, police said. Officers responded to a report of stolen garage doors at a residence on Ranger Trail when they discovered Vincent Sciroppo, the subcontractor had absconded with the garage doors following the tiff, police said. Sciroppo was charged with burglary and theft and released pending a court date.
