Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Baltimore Driver Killed In Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash In St. Mary's Identified (Updated) Speed and alcohol may have been a factor in a fatal single-vehicle rollover crash that claimed the life of a 64-year-old Baltimore man in Charlotte Hall, officials say. Deputies from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office were called at approximately 7 p.m. on Sept. 1 to investigate a reported crash in the center median in the area of Route 5 and Oak Station Drive. Man Who Made Thousands Of Harassing Calls From MD To Congressional Offices Sentenced: Feds A Queens man who made more than 12,000 calls to dozens of Congressional offices and threatened to kill a staffer has been sentenced to more than a year in prison, federal authorities announced. Ade Salim Lilly, 35, was sentenced to 13 months in prison, followed by 36 months of supervised release for making threats and "conducting a campaign of pervasive harassing communications against members of Congress," according to the US Attorney's Office. Man Shot Brother During Labor Day Dispute In Spotsylvania, Sheriff Says A squabble between brothers landed one hospitalized with serious injuries and another is facing serious charges following a Labor Day shooting in Spotsylvania. Bowie resident Jakel Stone, 34, leaves behind a teen son after he was shot to death in Landover over the holiday weekend. One Airlifted To Hospital After Construction Site Injury In Joppa A construction worker in Harford County suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to an area hospital after falling out of a truck and into the foundation of a home in Joppa. Police ID District Man Killed During Labor Day Shooting In Silver Spring New details have been released by the Montgomery County Department of Police following a deadly Labor Day shooting in Silver Spring.
