Jersey City Inspector Busted For No-Showing Work: Prosecutors Zamir Thomas, who works as a quality of life inspector for Jersey City, was charged after prosecutors say he sat home while he was supposed to be working, authorities said. Thomas, 31, was arrested on Friday, July 28 by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit and charged with one count of theft by deception in the third degree, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors A 52-year-old Newark resident was fatally shot on Thursday, July 27, authorities said. At 6:11 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 300 block of Wainwright Street and found Eddie Boykins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Saddle Brook Rallies Around Girl Injured, Orphaned In Earthquake Rayen Bekri, a 13-year-old girl, was trapped in the rubble for six days following an earthquake in her native Turkey in February. Now living with family in Bergen County, the community has come together to help her. While trapped under six floors of a collapsed building, Bekri held onto her brother, though he did not survive.
