West New York Helps Woman Seriously Injured After Pinned By Van Iris Flores has had five surgeries since she was pinned by a reversing van on Wednesday, Sept. 6. The incident caused multiple fractures on her pelvic bone, spine, hips and legs, along with other internal wounds. Flores faces future surgeries and will undergo physical therapy.  A fundraiser has been set up to assist with her recovery. Support Surges For Family After Pets Die In Budd Lake Fire In the blink of an eye Regina and Adam Buga lost everything. Their home in Budd Lake was destroyed by a fire on Saturday, Sept. 16. The fire also claimed the lives of their dog and cat. The Bugas had lived in the home for 20 years and lost all their possessions. A fundraiser has been created to assist them. As of Monday, Oct. 2, almost $20,000 has been raised. "The family lost everything," donor John Zawistoski said. "I would expect the community to do the same if a tragedy happened to my family." Man Sexually Assaulted Woman In Jersey City: Prosecutors Raul Pena, a 31-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 29-year-old woman at a residence in Jersey City, authorities said. The sexual assault occurred on Sunday, Aug. 20, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The woman had met Pena through an acquaintance in the hours leading up to the assault, Suarez said.  Pena was charged with aggravated sexual assault in the first degree, Suarez said. Male Body Found In Newark Dumpster: Prosecutors A body of a man was found in a dumpster in Newark on Thursday, Sept. 28, authorities said. At 5:19 p.m., Newark police found the body inside a dumpster on the 600 block of Clinton Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Elizabeth Man Gets Nine Years For Stabbing Woman: Prosecutors A 36-year-old Elizabeth man was sentenced to nine years in state prison on Friday, Sept. 22 for stabbing a woman last year, authorities said. On Jan. 25, 2022, Juan Abreu-Perez stabbed a woman inside her apartment on South 5th Street, causing her serious bodily injury, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said.  Abreu-Perez was sentenced after pleading guilty to aggravated assault in August, Daniel said.
