Runners from Westport, Ridgefield Lead Virginia To Invitational Win FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Runners from Westport and Ridgefield led the University of Virginia men’s cross country team to a victory at the Panorama Farrms Invitational in Virginia on Saturday. Westport’s Henry Wynne and Ridgefield’s Trevor Hopper placed among Virginia’s top five runners. County Sports Commission Names Fairfield Student Courage Award Winner FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Giacomo Brancato, a junior at Fairfield Warde High School, was named on Tuesday as the recipient of the 2015 Chelsea Cohen Courage Award by the Fairfield County Sports Commission. Brancato, a two-sport standout, was diagnosed at the end of last year with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma -- a cancer of the lymph tissue in the autoimmune system. Darien's Grant Rushes Into School's Football Record Book DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien High School’s Shelby Grant sprinted into the Blue Wave record book Saturday against Greenwich with six touchdowns in the Blue Wave’s 51-28 rout. Stepinac Slips To No. 2 In State Football Rankings WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Archbishop Stepinac slipped one spot in the latest MaxPreps’ New York state rankings while Eastchester climbed 23 spots after going to 4-0 for the first time since 2007.
