Peekskill Celebrates Past, Looks Forward At 75th Anniversary Gala PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill residents will celebrate the past while looking forward to the future at a gala celebration for the City’s 75th anniversary on Oct. 24. In September 1609, Henry Hudson, captain of the Halve Maen, anchored along the reach of the Hudson at Peekskill. His firstmate noted in the ship's log that it was a "very pleasant place to build a town.” Many question why a '75th anniversary?' High School Cross Country Coach Wins Ridgefield Half Marathon RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield High cross country coach Bryan Kovalsky and Wilton's ageless wonder Mary Zengo won the men's and women's divisions Sunday at the Ridgefield Half Marathon. Kovalsky, 36, won the race and covered the demanding 13.1 mile course in 1:13:28. He won by 12 seconds over James Osborn, also of Ridgefield. Peter Brady of New Jersey finished third in 1:16:40. Zengo, 50, established an age group record with a time of 1:24:22. Alyssa Cole finished second in 1:27:43 and Alana Levy of Chappaqua, N.Y. took third in 1:31:49. Mahopac's DePass Scores 3 TDs, Brewster's Smith Stars For Harvey School MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- Michael DePass of Mahopac, a senior at Harvey School in Katonah, scored three touchdowns in a variety of ways to help the Cavaliers earn a 24-24 tie against Dwight-Englewood School of New Jersey on Saturday. DePass, a senior captain, caught a touchdown pass, returned a punt and scored the game-tying points on an interception return. DePass hauled in a 50-yard pass from Tom Smith of Brewster for Harvey's first touchdown.
