Franklin Lakes Begins Road Resurfacing Projects FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- The Borough of Franklin Lakes will begin its road resurfacing projects beginning Monday, May 23. This project consists of milling and paving as well as some patching on additional streets. Curb work will be performed prior to milling and paving. The milling and paving will start the week of June 6, weather permitting. Rutherford Council Reviews Amended Redevelopment Plan RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Rutherford Planning Board agreed to send an amended redevelopment plan for Agnew Place to the mayor and borough council on Thursday, May 19, according to NorthJersey.com. Business owners and residents spoke out at the meeting, fearful that the borough would take their businesses via eminent domain. Happy Birthday To Franklin Lakes' Tommy John FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- Happy birthday to Franklin Lakes' Tommy John! John, who was a Major League Baseball pitcher and four-time all-star, turns 73 on Sunday, May 22. John pitched for six teams including two stints for the Yankees from 1979-1982 and again from 1986-1989. Elevated Lead Levels Found In Fort Lee School Water FORT LEE, N.J. -- The four elementary schools in Fort Lee tested for elevated levels of lead in the drinking water on Thursday, May 19, according to NorthJersey.com. Ten of the water fountains tested above standard, but to make the figure final, the environmental agency must return to the schools and retest the fountains in question, NorthJersey.com said.
