Lumber From Gardiner Tree At Rockefeller Center Will Be Used Locally GARDINER, N.Y. -- The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, an 80-year-old Norway spruce from Gardiner, will be made into lumber for projects of Habitat for Humanity, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The report says this is the ninth consecutive year the Rockefeller Center tree will be used for that purpose. Last year's tree from Danville, Pa., is being incorporated into five homes being constructed in Philadelphia, the article says.
