Few Venture Out As Snow Piles Up In Ridgefield RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield's downtown area is steeped in heaps of snow, with some drifts already higher than the 10 to 12 inches expected before the storm ends Thursday evening. The entire state remains under a Winter Storm Warning until 6 p.m., with heavy snow in the forecast. Most businesses, offices, schools and stores are closed. And the state Department of Transportation says the highways and roadways are snow-covered and slow-moving. The Connecticut State Police is urging drivers to exercise caution and slow down. Shelton Man Crashes Car Then Leaves Without Plate And Bumper TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Police arrested a Shelton man who crashed an SUV on a front lawn in Trumbull and then left the crash scene, leaving the vehicle's license plate and front bumper there, according to the Connecticut Post.The owner of the Trumbull home told police that the SUV had driven across his front lawn and caused substantial damage, the Connecticut Post reported. Couple From Maine Busted With 80 Bags Of Heroin On Merritt In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A couple from Maine was busted with 84 bags of heroin Tuesday afternoon after a traffic stop on the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield, state police said. Connecticut State Police from Troop G in Bridgeport made the arrest with assistance from a Wilton police officer and K9 officer, State Police said. State Police stopped a motor vehicle for following too close at 4:29 p.m. just north of Exit 44 in Fairfield on the parkway, said police. Brookfield Voters Overwhelmingly Approve $1.7M Referendum For Four Corners BROOKFIELD, Conn. — It's a go for Brookfield's Four Corners streetscape project. Voters in Tuesday's referendum passed the measure with an unofficial tally of 929 "yes" votes versus 469 "no" votes. The resolution will allow $1.7 million to top off funding for the first phase of the project, which is estimated to cost $3.5 million. The majority of the funding would be covered by grants. Backyard Shooting Injures One In Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport Police are investigating a Tuesday shooting on Iranistan Avenue that sent one person to the hospital, according to the Connecticut Post.The shooting took place in a backyard shared by a number of homes during the afternoon, police told the Connecticut post.
