Joe Lombardi, Daily Voice's Managing Editor, has spent his professional career as a newsroom director, manager, editor, producer, writer, reporter and broadcaster who has worked at major websites, television networks, newspapers, magazines and radio stations and as a book author.

The Manhattan native, Irvington (NY) High School and University of Dayton graduate has been actively involved in web publishing for more than 25 years. In addition, he also has expertise in marketing, public relations and social media.

Lombardi rejoined Daily Voice in September 2013 as managing editor after serving as sports editorial consultant from August 2011 through January 2012. He was named to oversee editorial operations in the fall of 2017.

Woman Killed When Tree Falls On Car On Route 9 This story has been updated. A woman was killed after a tree fell on her car while she was driving on a stretch of Route 9 (Albany Post Road) in the area. The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. Monday, July 27 in Dutchess County just south of Mills Cross Road in Staatsburg. The woman, a 70-year-old Red Hook resident whose identity is being withheld while next of kin is notified, was traveling northbound at the time. Update: Separate Shark Sightings Off Long Island Coast Keep Swimmers Out Of Water Much Of Day Separate shark sightings led to swimming being prohibited at some beaches off the Long Island coast. The shark, described as significant-sized, was spotted offshore of Lido West Beach by a Town of Hempstead lifeguard who was on a surfboard, the Town of Hempstead said early Monday afternoon, July 27. Lifeguards then red-flagged the area as per state protocols. Swimming was prohibited at Civic Beach, Lido Beach, Lido Beach West, Town Point Park Lookout and Town Park at Sands for most of the afternoon. Covid-19: 27 New Violations Issued To Downstate NY Restaurants, Bars For Breaching Restrictions A total of 27 new violations have been issued to restaurants and bars in New York for breaching COVID-19 social-distancing restrictions. Those businesses were cited by the State Liquor Authority and New York State Police Task Force on Sunday, July 26. Including the 105 violations issued on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, the total number of violations over the weekend wound up being 132. Long Island Man, 22, Killed In Crash Involving Overturned Car A 22-year-old Long Island man was killed in a crash involving an overturned car overnight. The crash happened shortly before 2 a.m. Monday, July 27 on the Ocean State Parkway just east of the Gilgo Beach entrance, Babylon, State Police said. The victim, Joshua Phillips, of Merrick, was driving a 2017 Ford Mustang on the eastbound side when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned, according to police. Phillips succumbed to his injuries at the scene. State Police are asking for anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call 631-756-3300.
