'Brutal Killing': Man Convicted In 2017 Lawrence YMCA Rooming House Slaying A 67-year-old was convicted on Wednesday, March 15, of the beating death of another in a Lawrence YMCA rooming house in 2017. Martin Rodriguez was found guilty of first-degree murder following a weeklong trial for the killing of 53-year-old Jose Burgos, the Essex District Attorney's Office announced. Springfield Slaying: Victim ID'd As West Springfield Man Officials in Hampden County have released the identity of a 25-year-old killed in a Friday, March 10, shooting in Springfield. Jahvante Perez, of West Springfield, was found shot just after 7 p.m. on Cadwell Drive in Springfield, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday. He died of his wounds at Baystate Medical Center later that night. Police charged Jordan Cabrera on Monday with the slaying, the prosecutor said. He is being held without bail. House Fire: Minor Injuries In Early Morning Holyoke Blaze Firefighters in Hamden County were quick to the scene of an early morning house fire after a 911. Holyoke firefighters arrived at the 160 Pine Street home just before 5 a.m. in the driving snow when a neighbor noticed the house next door was on fire, authorities said. Despite crews best efforts the high winds pushed the flames onto a nearby home. Crews were able to get the blaze under control after a short period and rescued a resident of the first home who had minor smoke inhalation injuries, authorities said. Killing In Easthampton: Woman Charged With Stabbing 23-Year-Old Man To Death A 23-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday, March 14, and charged with killing a man overnight, authorities said. Easthampton police were called to the Culdaff Street home just after 3 a.m., where they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said.
