Plato's Closet Owner Faces New Child Porn Charges In Morris County: Prosecutor A 35-year-old Lincoln Park resident accused last December of recording his employees using the bathroom at his clothing store has been hit with new charges, authorities said. Nicholas Zirpoli, who owns Plato's Closet in Roxbury, is now being accused of recording an underage female employee and a man using the bathroom at separate times in late 2022 and early 2023, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Investigations Robert McNally said. Monmouth County Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors A 29-year-old Howell man was fatally shot in Newark on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 13, authorities said. At 9 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on the 900 block of South 16th Street in Newark and found Tyquane Steed inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. He was pronounced dead at the scene soon after, Stephens and Fragé said. ATV Driver Plowing Snow Killed In Plunge Down Embankment: Butler Police A 69-year-old woman was killed when the ATV she was using to plow snow went down an embankment on Tuesday, Feb. 13, Butler police said. Police in Butler responded to a residence on Washington Street on a report of an unresponsive woman under an ATV. Upon arrival, police discovered the woman had been plowing the snow in her driveway when her ATV went down an embankment in the back of the property. Her family had attempted resuscitation and despite resuscitation attempts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation, police said.

Pickleball Pandemonium: Largest Facility In NJ Opening In Passaic County The fast growing sport that has gripped the country is coming to Passaic County next year. Sportime Pickleball announced it has signed a lease to open Sportime Pickleball Wayne at Willowbrook Plaza in the spring of 2025. Sportime said this will be the largest facility in the state. The 50,000 square foot space will include 20 indoor courts, a stadium court, a concession stand and spaces for events, including national tournaments. Sportime said it is looking to open more locations in the Garden State.

Two Injured In Warren County House Fire: Police Two people were injured in a house fire in Washington Township on the evening of Monday, Feb. 12, authorities said. At 9:29 p.m., first responders responded to a residence on the 400 block of E. Washington Avenue for a structure fire, Washington Township police said. Upon arrival, flames and heavy smoke conditions were observed and soon the home was fully engulfed, police said. Two people had self evacuated prior to arrival, police said. Verona Home Invasion: 2nd Suspect Nabbed In PA, Police Say A 31-year-old Newark resident was recently arrested in Scranton, PA after breaking into a home in Verona by kicking in the side door last month, police said. On Friday, Jan. 5 at 5 p.m., two suspects, Christopher Lassiter, a 30-year-old Newark resident and Hamid Travis, 31, burglarized a home on Wayland Drive, Verona police said on Facebook. A Mega Millions ticket sold at City Line Liquors in Bayonne matched four of the five numbers plus the gold Megaball in the drawing held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, winning $30,000. JCPenney Moving To Willowbrook Mall JCPenney is on the move in Passaic County. The department store chain is relocating from the Wayne Town Center to Willowbrook Mall next month in the township, Ryan Hidalgo, the senior general manager of the mall said. JCPenney will be taking the spot formally occupied by Lord and Taylor, Hidalgo said. JCPenney has 10 locations in the Garden State, including in Woodbridge and Jersey City.

Newark Burglar Who Ransacked Business Via Hole In Wall Sought By Police Newark police are attempting to locate a suspect who ransacked a business, taking more than $1,500 between Tuesday, Feb. 6 and Wednesday, Feb. 7. On the morning of Feb. 7, police responded to a report of a business burglarized on the 300 block of Madison Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said.
