Njdot Drivers Hospitalized In Crash With Dump Truck On Route 208 (Update) A crash involving two NJ Department of Transportation vehicles and a dump truck closed Route 208 in Bergen County Monday, July 15, police said. The NJDOT vehicles were conducting street sweeping operations in a work zone on the left shoulder of the roadway in the left shoulder near Summit Avenue when the crash with a privately-owned dump truck occurred just after 10:15 a.m. in Franklin Lakes, Police Capt. Gabriella "Gabby" Velazquez, a rising sophomore at Allentown Central Catholic High School died suddenly, the school announced on Friday, July 12.  A cause of death was not provided. World Cup Easton, an area cheer squad, said Velazquez was "a vibrant, loud, positive light." "She always kept you smiling and laughing. If anything in this world made Gabby happy, it was cheerleading. Her dream was to compete at Worlds and last year, she achieved that goal." Services have not yet been finalized.

Tractor Trailer Driver, 22, Airlifted In Route 80 Crash The driver of a tractor trailer was airlifted to the hospital in a Route 80 crash early Friday, July 12 in Warren County, police said. The 22-year-old Lodi, CA man was heading east when he ran off the left side of the roadway, struck the guardrail, went into a ditch, and collided with a tree just after 6:40 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.  The unnamed man sustained moderate injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. The crash remains under investigation, and there was no further information.
