Photos Show 50-Foot Rescue Of French Bulldog Who Went Tumbling Down Cliff Along Palisades Talk about a happy tail. A French bulldog named Klipse who went tumbling 40 feet down a cliff at Palisades Interstate Park was rescued by Port Authority Police officers on Tuesday morning July 30, PAPD spokeswoman Lenis Valens said. PA State Trooper Peter Conforti Dies: 'Beautiful Human' The Pennsylvania State Police Department has announced the death of Trooper Peter K. Conforti. On Thursday, Aug. 1, the department said Conforti, who had been assigned to Troop L in Hamburg, died while off-duty. Conforti enlisted in the PSP in April 2016. Records show he was 30 years old and lived in Tamaqua. Condolences from loved ones shared to Facebook say he leaves behind his wife, Alexandra, and at least one child. Prisoner Swap: First Photo Shows New Jersey WSJ Reporter In Release From Russian Captivity Evan Gershkovich is a free man. The 32-year-old New Jersey native was among three United States residents released from prison in Russia in on Thursday, Aug. 1, in what's being called the biggest prisoner swap between since 1991. World Champion Judo Master, Retired Paterson Fire Captain Anthony 'Tony' Camal Dies, 63 Anthony "Tony" Camal, a world-renowned Judo master and Paterson firefighter, died on Monday, July 29, according to his obituary on the Festa Memorial website. He was 63 years old. Raised in Inwood, NY, Camal later moved to Totowa and Paterson, where he served for 15 years on the fire department before retiring as captain in 2013. He later settled in Woodland Park. Camal was the head sensei of Camal & Cruz Judo and Jiu Jitsu Academy since 1995, having been a sixth-degree black belt and world champion, according to his obituary. Armed Man, 22, Killed By Police After Overnight Negotiations In Woodbridge, Police Say Prince William County police shot and killed an armed 22-year-old man following an overnight incident in Woodbridge, authorities said. Officers were called to a home on the 3400 block of Caledonia Circle on reports of a suicidal person around 8:20 p.m., county police said in a release. Belleville Mechanic Joe Costa Of Nutley Dies Unexpectedly At 35, Obituary Says Joseph "Joe" Costa, a Nutley resident formerly of Newark and Bloomfield, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 28 at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, his obituary on the Biondi Funeral Home website says. He was 35 years old. Dump Truck Driver 'Shaken Up' After Crash With Commuter Train In Morris County Delays along NJ Transit's Morris & Essex Line were being reported due to a dump truck that struck a train Wednesday afternoon, July 31. Route 17 Gas Station Clerk Who Loaded Magazine In Front Of Officer Bought Gun Illegally: Police A Route 17 gas station clerk and the man who sold him an illegal firearm have both been arrested, police in Ridgewood said. Ridgewood Police Officer Malone was on patrol when he went into a gas station on the northbound side of Route 17 around 2 a.m. on June 9, Ridgewood Police Chief Forest Lyons said. Charges Upgraded For DWI Driver In Deadly Sidewalk Crash, Fairfax County PD Says Charges have been upgraded for a 38-year-old man who police previously said was driving drunk in a crash that killed a pedestrian on the sidewalk last May in Fairfax County, police announced.
