Software Glitch Can Disable Turn Signals, Forcing Recall Of 500K Toyota Cars
More than 500,000 Toyota cars are being recalled because of a dashboard software problem that can disable turn signals, hazard lights, and safety warnings.
Toyota is recalling about 508,354 Camry Hybrid vehicles in the US, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a report filed on Thursday, Aug. 6. The Camrys are from the 2025 and 2026 model years.
The 7-inch instrument cluster display can go blank when the vehicle starts because of a software error. The problem can also deactivate the turn signals, hazard lights, seat belt reminders, and smart key warning.

A Connecticut man pulled up to a medical emergency in a Mazda SUV fitted with flashing red-and-blue lights, said he was a federal agent who'd worked in "special forces," and he was there to help. He was lying, authorities said.
Kurt Hoss, 58, was arrested Saturday, Aug. 8, after arriving at a home on Baxter Road in Tolland, Connecticut State Police said. Troopers were at the scene to assist emergency medical personnel.

Man Charged With CT Hit-Run Crash That Killed 81-Year-Old Woman
A Connecticut man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash last year that killed an 81-year-old pedestrian, authorities said.
Lorenzo Abrajan-Garcia, 49, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 7, in connection with the July 13, 2025, crash that killed Angela Pagan, police said.
Prosecutors charged him with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility involving a death, Bridgeport Police said.
